3-D IMAGES FOR EXCELLENT LASER EYE SURGEY RESULTS
If you are undergoing LASIK surgery, Crown Laser Center will use a Pentacam to accurately measure the thickness, contour, and shape of your cornea. The Pentacam is another high tech way to make sure the LASIK Surgeon has the most detailed information he or she needs before your procedure. Crown Laser Center was one of the first practices in St. Louis to offer this state-of-the-art technology.
The Pentacam is a sophisticated multiple purpose device for evaluating all aspects of the cornea. The information it gathers allows us to ensure that your eye is healthy and ready for an excellent laser eye surgery result. This instrument takes careful 3D images of the front of your eye using a special rotating camera. It captures information on 25,000 separate points in the eye in about one second. This large number of points collected on your eye is an extremely accurate way to establish your cornea’s thickness. It will also help be able to determine if you are a candidate for LASIK surgery by screening to see if the cornea’s shape is pointed.
